Slope Rating

A number from 55 to 155 that indicates the relative difficulty of a golf course for bogey golfers compared to scratch golfers.

What does slope rating mean in golf?

Slope rating measures how much harder a course plays for less-skilled golfers relative to scratch golfers. A standard slope is 113 — higher numbers indicate a course where the gap between scratch and bogey golfer performance is wider (usually due to hazards, forced carries, and tight landing areas that disproportionately penalize less accurate players). Slope rating is used alongside course rating to convert a player's handicap index into their course handicap for any given course.
