A shot that curves sharply from right to left for right-handed golfers, typically unintentionally.
A hook is an exaggerated version of a draw, caused by a severely closed clubface relative to the swing path at impact. Hooks are problematic because the ball curves dramatically and often rolls significantly after landing, making it difficult to control distance. A duck hook (or snap hook) is an extreme version that dives hard left almost immediately. While draws are desirable, hooks are generally considered a miss and can lead to trouble on the left side of holes.
A controlled shot that curves gently from right to left for right-handed golfers.
A shot that curves sharply from left to right for right-handed golfers, typically unintentional and resulting in significant distance and accuracy loss.
A clubface position at address or impact where the face points left of the target line for right-handed golfers.
