A score of two strokes under par on a single hole.
An eagle represents exceptional play — a 2 on a par-4, a 3 on a par-5, or a hole-in-one on a par-3 (which is simultaneously an eagle and an ace). Eagles on par-5s are the most common, typically achieved by reaching the green in two shots and sinking the putt. On par-4s, eagles require either holing an approach shot or driving the green on a short par-4 and making the putt. Eagles are significant momentum builders in competitive rounds.
